Webroot SecureAnywhere Review (2026)
Webroot SecureAnywhere uses a cloud-based architecture that makes it the fastest-scanning antivirus available — completing full system scans in under two minutes while using less than 2MB of disk space — and its journaling-and-rollback technology can undo damage from ransomware that slips past detection.

Pros & Cons
What We Like
- Cloud-based scanning completes full system scans in under 2 minutes
- Smallest installation footprint of any antivirus — under 2MB on disk
- Ransomware rollback technology can undo file encryption damage
- Real-time threat intelligence updated continuously from the cloud
- Works well on older, lower-powered hardware
What Could Be Better
- Requires internet connection for full protection — cloud dependency
- Independent lab test scores are lower than ESET or Bitdefender
- Ransomware rollback has storage limits — not unlimited undo
Key Features
Cloud-Based Scanning
Threat analysis happens in Webroot's cloud — scans complete in under 2 minutes and the local installation is under 2MB.
Ransomware Rollback
Journals file changes and can roll back ransomware damage by restoring encrypted files to their pre-attack state.
Real-Time Intelligence
Threat database updated continuously from the cloud — no waiting for signature update downloads.
Identity Shield
Protects sensitive data entered in browsers — credit card numbers, passwords, and personal information — from keyloggers and screen scrapers.
Our Verdict
Webroot SecureAnywhere is the right choice for users with older hardware, slow computers, or anyone who wants the fastest possible scans. Its cloud architecture means the heavy lifting happens on Webroot's servers rather than your machine, and the ransomware rollback feature is a genuine safety net. The trade-off is cloud dependency — without an internet connection, protection is reduced. For always-connected users on modest hardware, Webroot is hard to beat.
